CR&FC open season with Police today

Ceylonese Rugby & Football Club (CR&FC), led by former Royalist and Sri Lanka third-row-forward Dushanth Lewke, start their campaign to reign supreme in domestic rugby when they play their maiden match of the Caltex League Rugby tournament against Police Sports Club at Longden Place this evening.

CR&FC has a few new faces in their starting line-up. A key figure in the side will be former Trinitian Nigel Ratwatte who has returned to Sri Lanka from Mauritius. According to club sources, Ratwatte had migrated abroad when he was in his teens.

Last year’s exciting winger from Isipathana College Vishwamithra Jayasinghe occupies one of the wing three quarter’s berths. Bilal Hassen, who represented CH&FC last year, plays as the hooker. One of the locks will be Shafir Jhan who turned out for Kandy SC last season.

Police SC will be led by former Sri Lanka sevens player Chammika Thushara. He will have the services of experienced players like Harshana Wijeweera, Charaka Hewawasam, Welagedara and Sivananda.

Police Sports Club- Charaka Hewawasam or Sivananda, Hettiarachchi, Welagedara, Dinesh Kumara, Asirige, Senewiratne, Gemunu, Gomes, Harshana Wijeweera, Thusitha Samanthilake, Priyantha Ekanayake, Chammika Thushara (Captain), Ranjith, Jeewan Amaradasa.
