The Elections Secretariat has ordered all the heads of government institutions and corporations not to hire, promote or transfer any employees until the conclusion of the general election to be held on April 8, 2010.

The Commissioner of Elections Dayananda DisSanayake on Wednesday  sent a special circular to this effect to all the government agencies.

`All heads of state institutions must adhere to the instructions detailed in the circular from the day the parliament was dissolved until the results of the election are announced,` the Elections Secretariat announced.

The Commissioner has issued the circular to the Secretary to the President, Secretary to the Prime Minister, secretaries to ministries, heads of departments, the commanders of the armed forces and the Inspector General of Police.
